Educational Resources Available on Loan

The Silent Wings Museum offers FREE resources for classroom education. Students can learn and benefit from multi-media materials and artifacts corresponding with lesson plans, TEKS requirements, and a range of curriculums.


Traveling Footlocker: All About Aviation

Science and History courses can benefit from this reproduction Pilot’s Footlocker filled with all things Aviation. Students can explore topics such as the history of aviation, the forefathers of flight development, the principles of flight, as well as elements and forces related to natural and technological aviation. Along with reproduction Pilot clothing, students can survey examples of model airplanes and gliders. Hands on activities such as Aviation Bingo and paper airplane making are included as well. A Teacher’s Resource Kit provides instruction, lesson plans, TEKS correlations, and basic education aids.

Allotment: Each classroom is allotted the footlocker for a period of one week, Friday to Friday. It is the borrowing organization’s responsibility to pick up and return the footlocker to the Silent Wings Museum.

Age / Class Appropriate: The ‘All About Aviation’ Footlocker is recommended for K-12th grade educational courses concerning Science, History, or Aviation.

Traveling Footlocker: Experiencing WWII

Designed with History and Cultural Studies curriculums in mind, the ‘Experiencing WWII’ Traveling Footlocker can add an important dimension to the subjects of war, culture, patriotic definition, genocide, and the importance of the study of history. Complete with books, a military uniform, and a multi-media approach to the subject, this footlocker offers students a chance to analyze and internalize the WWII situation. Activities such as What If I was in War Interactive Journaling, a Rationing Activity, exploring a WWII Zone Map, a Jewish Cultural Perspective, Analyzing the Propaganda: War Posters from WWII, and more allow students to consider multiple aspects of WWII History. A Teacher’s Resource Kit provides instruction, lesson plans, TEKS correlations, and basic education aids.
