On June 6, 1944, allied forces conducted a two phased assault on German occupied France. An air assault of American, British, Canadian and Free French airborne troops landed behind enemy lines to coordinate attacks on German support artillery and supply positions. The attacks would usher in the amphibious landing of Allied infantry and armored divisions on the coast of France. The operation was the largest amphibious invasion of all time.

The Silent Wings Museum will commemorate the 66th Anniversary of D-Day with a two- day event. The Museum will host a reception on Saturday, June 5, with special guest speakers and an unveiling of a new exhibit of selected rare photographs taken by German War Correspondent, Friedrich Wilhelm Jakobsmeier. The event will also feature WWII aircraft displays, the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, the U.S. 1st Infantry Division Living History Group and children’s activities. Refreshments provided. Admission is free of charge.
